Whether it’s a simple enquiry for a comfort policy or a more complicated case involving multiple beneficiaries, we’ll always offer a quick decision and a competitive quote. And when you order a policy from us, there’s no direct cost to the client – the premium can usually come from the estate as an expense.
Missing Will Indemnity
Around half of the UK population die without leaving a will, meaning large numbers of estates are distributed on an intestacy basis. But disputes can still occur if, for instance, a will is found after an estate has been distributed. Problems can arise even when a will has been left; a later will may be discovered, for example, which invalidates the first one.
The executors or administrators are held liable if assets are distributed incorrectly, but our Missing Will indemnity policy protects them should a previously unknown or later will materialise. It covers all costs, damages, and compensation if it's necessary to make a further distribution.
Missing Beneficiary Indemnity
It’s not always possible to track down the beneficiaries of an estate. So even when every known beneficiary has been identified and traced, and the estate has been distributed, there is still a risk that an unknown or missing beneficiary might surface and make a claim on the estate.
Our Missing Beneficiary insurance offers protection for the administrator or executor should this occur. The policy covers the value of the estate at the date of distribution, and also includes an escalator clause to cover any potential interest accrued if a missing beneficiary makes a claim on the estate in the future.
In order to provide a quotation, we will require details such as the value of the deceased's estate, a copy of the genealogists report and family tree(s), plus any other information which may be relevant to the enquiry.
